The next form of the CareerVault idea

CVGnome is a standalone, cross-platform career workspace in active development. It carries forward the central idea behind CareerVault: build one reviewable record of your experience, assess a role against evidence you can inspect, and prepare application materials without inventing certainty where the record is incomplete.

CareerVault’s public access is paused. The working application remains available privately for development and testing while the workflow is being reshaped into CVGnome for local, personal use across desktop platforms.

Evidence before output

The product is designed around a deliberate sequence:

  1. Build a durable career record. Import existing material, correct it, and retain useful detail that a one-page résumé leaves behind.
  2. Decide whether a role deserves the effort. Compare its requirements with supported strengths, differentiators, gaps, and unanswered questions.
  3. Prepare grounded materials. Bring forward relevant evidence for a targeted résumé or cover letter, then review every claim before using it.
  4. Keep the record portable. The career evidence remains useful beyond any one application or generated document.
An illustrated role-fit assessment compares stated requirements and inferred needs with career evidence, then marks strengths and an unresolved question.

From hosted service to personal software

The standalone direction changes the delivery model, not the product principle. CVGnome is being developed as a cross-platform application so a person’s source record and working materials can live in a personal workspace while still supporting structured analysis, reviewable outputs, and explicit human decisions.

The former web application has served as the working test bed for this transition. Its preview account exercises the full loop—from a structured profile through a completed role-fit readout to prepared résumé artifacts—using fictional data rather than a production user’s record.

An illustrated final review checks grounding, personal voice and specificity, comparing generic draft sentences with more concrete examples.
The review boundary remains central in CVGnome: generated material is a proposal to inspect, not an automatic submission. Examples are fictional. View full-size illustration.

What comes next

The current target for CVGnome is 1 October 2026. Development is focused on translating the proven CareerVault workflow into a coherent standalone experience rather than reopening the paused public service under a new name.

I am designing and building CVGnome through Praxish, my independent applied AI and data science practice. For a technical conversation about the product, email me.
